Who Am I
Know about me
It is always difficult to talk about me. So, I will be very brief.
My name is Cristina Morgado. Born in Mozambique (Africa) and a daughter of Portuguese parents. As you can see a product of love and history.
As a consequence of another curve in life, I am now living in Australia for the last three decade.
I have been teaching proudly the Portuguese Language for the last twenty years in this beautiful country that now I call home.
I do this because I have a great passion to share my language, my history, my culture, my music with everyone that for private and professional reasons are seeking this beautiful experience.
Thank you to everyone who allowed me to fulfill my passion so far.
I would like to invite you for an enjoyable and funny journey.
Welcome to the World of Portuguese Language.
What student says
“Cristina is a highly effective language teacher and a genuinely nice person. For those, like myself, with particular professional goals and needs, Cristina is the perfect choice as she has decades of experience in exactly this field. Many language teachers are merely native speakers with a desire to share their language – Cristina also has the necessary methodological skills and a deep understanding of the academics (grammar and syntax) of the Portuguese language to ensure that you learn it once, and you learn it the right way. I have no hesitation in recommending Cristina.”
“I was a student of Cristina a few years ago. In studying Portuguese Language with Cristina it was one of the most rewarding educational experience I had so far. Cristina has the ability to combine the deepest experience with knowledge. Cristina’s approach to teaching is on personal or individual needs, catering her methodology to each one’s ability to learn. Cristina displays always a good humor and patient. She also encourages the students every step of the way. I strongly recommend with enthusiasm Cristina as a Portuguese teacher.”
In just under a year, Cristina Morgado took me from absolute beginner to sufficient command of the Portuguese language to conduct conversations in a wide variety of situations, from restaurants to hotels, shops, taxis, dinner parties, official meetings, informal get-togethers, and official receptions and meetings, during three and a half years in Lisbon. I was able to access local media, print, radio, and television, to give speeches and to do basic interpreting for visitors. I was also able to use the language effectively during a return visit to Portugal on holiday and will do so on future visits. Cristina combined a structured approach through textbooks and related material with a flexible, creative use of additional resources, both on-line and via real-life situations. Most importantly, Cristina inspired in me a genuine love of the Portuguese language, which I continued to develop at the Cambridge School in Lisbon throughout my time in Portugal and which I am still maintaining today in Canberra.
Cristina Morgado is an excellent Portuguese teacher. She tailored our class time and materials to adapt to my learning goals. Cristina’s personalised approach meant I received a focused version of her encyclopedic knowledge of the Portuguese language and culture. During our time together, I learnt exactly what I needed and always understood how it was relevant to my role and interests. Our classes were engaging and stimulating. Cristina has decades of experience and clearly devotes time and energy to preparation: she provided me with varied content like articles, podcasts, quizzes and exercises that matched up perfectly with my field and my professional goals. I warmly recommend Cristina Morgado.
